Authorities Investigating Homicide In Cambridge
CAMBRIDGE – Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone and Cambridge Police Commissioner Robert Haas informed the public today that authorities are investigating a homicide that occurred in Cambridge last evening.
Yesterday, June 26, at approximately 10:49 p.m., Cambridge Police responded to 211 Elm Street in Cambridge due to reports of an apparent stabbing. Upon arrival, officers discovered the body of Steven Raftery, 42, of Cambridge. He was declared dead on the scene due to an apparent stab wound. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the official cause of death.
“Cambridge Police and State Police from our office are conducting an active homicide investigation into the circumstances surrounding this stabbing,” District Attorney Leone said.
“While we continue to investigate this matter, it is also important to let people know that we do not believe this to have been a random act,” Commissioner Haas said.
No arrests have been made at this time. This matter is being investigated by Cambridge Police and Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.
